American Legion Hosts
Veteran Benefits Fair

The Palatine American Legion Post 690 is hosting a VA benefits fair open house from 11:30 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 25th upstairs in their banquet hall at the American Legion 122 West Palatine Road in Palatine to discuss the various benefit programs of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

“If you are an honorably discharged vet or the spouse, widow, widower or a relative of someone who has served, you will learn about a wide range of VA benefits and discounts at our open house,” said Andrew Alquist, project coordinator.  “We will have sandwiches, snacks and refreshments available.  Come by and learn about the benefits that are available to you as well as meet some other veterans.”

Ray Tomzak, an accredited representative for the American Legion, will be present to discuss and answer questions regarding VA benefits.  Other professionals will be available to answers your questions about service-connected compensation, agent orange, VA home loans, VA hospital eligibility, burial benefits, survivors’ benefits, educational benefits and VA pension benefits.

“We are always looking for new members for the American Legion,” said Daphne Matthews, Legion Commander.  “If you are interested in supporting those individuals who have defended our country then the Legion is the organization for you.  If you have any questions on the American Legion, Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of the American Legion or any of our activities call us at 847-359-1606.”

The American Legion Family consists of the American Legion, the Sons of the American Legion (S.A.L.) and Legion Auxiliary.  The American Legion and Legion Auxiliary began in 1919 while the S.A.L. was created in 1932 as patriotic veterans organizations devoted to mutual helpfulness.  These organizations are committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.
