Legion and Jaycees Hold
Casino Night Fundraiser
The Palatine American Legion Post 690 and the Palatine Jaycees are holding a casino night which is open to the public on Friday, October 20th at the American Legion Hall 122 West Palatine Road in Palatine to raise funds for Legion Family Charities.
“Come out between 7:00 PM and Midnight, play some poker, some of our other games of chance and have some fun,” said Matt Christie, casino night Project Co-Chair. “For a $5.00 entry fee you’ll be able to enjoy cash games of poker, Blackjack, Texas Hold’Em, Over & Under Dice Roll and Money Wheel. Come by for a few minutes or stay for a few hours!”
A full service bar will be open upstairs for the casino night and another full service bar will be open downstairs in the clubroom. “Our goal is to make these friendly neighborhood games,” said Erica Bartnicki, Project Co-Chair. “We encourage camaraderie between the players as well as with their dealers.”
The most notable of the American Legion’s projects is the annual Memorial Day program. The program encompasses the parade, the laying of wreaths at two of Palatine’s war memorials and a program at Community Park. The American Legion, as part of Legion Charities, also conducts bingo for blind veterans several times a year, hosts a Thanksgiving party for sailors from Great Lakes Naval Training Center and brings gifts to veterans during visits to Hines V. A. Hospital in Hines, Illinois.
Every year, the Palatine Jaycees conduct numerous programs to serve the community and accumulate funds for operation of the chapter and community donations. Included in these projects are the Fourth of July Festival (Hometown Fest), Christmas tree sales, Best Pizza Contest and others, which benefit the community directly and help raise money.
