Memorial Day Ceremonies

 

The American Legion Post 690 is sponsoring a Memorial Day program on Monday, May 31st beginning at 10:00 am with a service at Hillside Cemetery on Smith Street in Palatine followed by a programs at the Veterans Memorial in Community Park, Towne Square and Immanuel Lutheran/German Cemetery.

 

“This year there will be no parade and no band because of the pandemic,” said Paul Clausell, Commander of the American Legion Post 690. “We will have the three ceremonies. Social distancing and masks will be required at all three ceremonies.”

 

Following the Hillside Cemetery program at 11:00 am there will be a short program at the Veterans Memorial and then another ceremony at the Legion Memorial in Towne Square at 150 W. Palatine Road beginning at 12:00 pm. At 12:30 pm the final ceremony will held at the Immanuel Lutheran and German Cemetery at 108 S. Greeley Street. Community members are invited to the American Legion across the street from Towne Square following the ceremonies.

 

“To help the community honor our veterans, we will be selling American flags from our clubroom in the American Legion at 122 West Palatine Road in Palatine,” said Tom Seick, Commander of the Sons of the American Legion. “Flags are $20.00. The bartender will be more than happy to help you with a flag.”
